Homosexual Obsessive–compulsive Disorder Comorbid with Bipolar Disorder: A Rare Case report

Introduction While bipolar disorder–obsessive compulsive disorder overlap is quite common, sexuality remains a largely unexplored area of this clinical entity. Objectives Illustrate through vignette the case patient with diagnosed homosexual obsessive –compulsive (OCD) comorbid (BD). Methods The report was prepared review patient´s record. Results We rare 22 year-old man who Homosexual Obsessive–compulsive Disorder Bipolar Disorder, admitted to our department for suicide attempt. He came from religious and conservative background suffered intrusive, unwanted mental images behaviour since age 17. presented periods remission his thoughts, while showing signs elevated mood, talkativeness, restlessness, agitation hyperactivity that would last few days, recrudescence depressive symptoms again afterwards. present showed significant reduction in impact intrusive thoughts after prescription Risperidone Sodium Valproate along Exposure Response Prevention Therapy conducted over period 6 weeks. Conclusions OCD can cause important distress impairment severely person’s life multifaceted ways. Correct diagnosis, adequate medication psychotherapy provide effective treatment.
